Tree Bling

Friendly Fairy Tales

Charles River in Fall

When the trees bling
And the colors zing,
Joy is on an upswing.
My heart begins to sing,
My spirit takes wing,
Dancing a highland fling
As if I’m in a fairy ring.

Note: This weekend is Columbus Day Weekend here in New England. We harvest apples, press cider and hike in the woods. The holiday is controversial. In 1492, Columbus sailed the blue. Some claim he “discovered” America, but others argue he came rather late to the party. Asians had crossed the land bridge thousands of years before 1492, and millions already lived in the Americas. Viking and Chinese explorers had already beaten him to the Americas by sea as well. That’s water under the bridge now, and my family has been settled here for hundreds of years. When the leaves change, I am extra-thankful to be here, as magic reveals the luminous color underlying the green. The riverside becomes a place of otherworldly beauty. Whether or not you celebrate Columbus Day…

safe to speak

~ ♥♡♥ ~

the bamboo principle

We have limited means to communicate connection between souls. We have words, body language and actions. And the parity between those three are how we are judged and integrity shown. The closer the three communications match in a way that we understand, the more we connect with the other. I strongly believe, therefore, that one of our greatest responsibilities to the people who are in our daily lives is to make it safe to speak. It’s become one of my deepest fascinations with people-watching, to see how many people crave honesty and respect and yet make it impossible for those very attributes to be voiced in their presence. It’s not enough to say that honesty and respect is what we want to hear. It has to be made possible and kept sacrosanct in every possible future from then on.

Fall a seasons’ passing

Thank you! antilandscaper♡

The sun travels lower in the sky, casing longer shadows even at mid day.
The days become noticeably shorter, colors start to dot the landscape
With each day the reds, oranges and yellows fill the horizon, until we’re ablaze in color
As the winds and rains come with the season, the colors float, sail, twist and fall
They blanket the ground, pile up where the wind cannot move them anymore.
It is the beauty of a season, a change from life and growth to rest and hibernation

VROOOOM go the gas engines, where are song of birds?, the call of geese as they fly south?
Snip – snip gardens cleaned, made nice and tidy, it doesn’t do to leave things as they are.
What was beauty one day, now there is this great need to remove it.
The greens that filled the forest, the browns that carpeted the lawns, now…

Rain drenches the earth.
Clouds touch us softly with tears,
Liquid sky puddles.
